Six Sentence Sunday - Silver Linings #1

I'm switching things up this week.  This snippet is from my work in progress, SILVER LININGS.  I've had this one lingering in my computer's folders for years.  I know it'll take a lot of re-writing and cutting!  A lot of cutting.  Still, I do love their story.

I might not be able to read everyone's six this weekend - we're celebrating a belated Mother's Day with my mum - but I promise to follow up with posts early in the week.  :)

*****

There is not much of a set up needed for this one, so here are my six:

Omigod, Parker Truman was in her store!
Billie threw her hand out when the stepladder rocked. Damn ladder.  Her unsteadiness had nothing to do with him – nothing at all.
When she’d regained her balance, Billie glanced toward him again. Shouldn’t he be thicker around the middle by now, with a look of complacency and defeat clinging to his shoulders?

I love your phraseology! "...defeat clinging to his shoulders?" EXCELLENT!! Great six! =D

Yes he absolutely should be heavy and defeated. LOL Fun six, Lorraine!

I want to why he isn't all defeated!

What a great last line, Lorraine. Love that she almost wishes he wasn't hot...

Unsteadiness had nothing to do with him? Ha!

Intriguing, makes me want to know the backstory between them and definitely to see what will happen next - great six!

of course it has nothing to do with him. Guess he still looks good

I love how you show her reaction to him, how she's so unsettled by his mere presence. They haven't even talked! And she's clearly pissed! A woman wronged... ;) Great six!

I love that her thoughts immediately go to how he should look--great dichotomy because she's obviously thrown by his presence--enough to rock the ladder. Nice six.

Nothing to do with HIM at all. Nice. This one will be fun!

In just 6 I'm already getting an idea of why you love their story.

Oooh, something new! Bille and Parker. I can't wait to see where you head with their story. This is a delightful beginning. Love how she blames the ladder, LOL. :) Enjoy your day with your mum!

Heh, 'nothing to do with him', I wonder how long she'll keep that up for. Great six!

I love that he's not what she expected. You've intrigued me.

Ooh, Lorraine! So much "meat" in this six. I don't think this will take much cutting at all if the rest is anything like this six! Good job.

Great 6, you captured well her surprise and I love how he didn't age the way she'd expected him to, he most still be pretty hot!

Wow, why would she expect that last to be the case? Doesn't sound like she's thrilled to see him.
