First, a quick update: Wow! My week spun out of control again. I know I've said this over and over for the last few weeks - so perhaps this is the "new" normal for me. (I hope not). This week, we made an offer on a house, which was accepted. We've accepted an offer on our condo. We've done the home inspection. I met with my crit group. I met with more lovely writerly friends to discuss social media. I met with my realtor and mortgage broker numerous times. Oh, and then there is my day job. Eep. On the upside, I think we're in a holding pattern now for a couple of weeks. So, I'm jumping at the opportunity to catch up on Six Sentence Sunday, read a book, and edit a Work in Progress. Yay!
To everyone who commented on my six last week, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Now, let's get to SSS - this is another snippet from my work in progress, SILVER LININGS. My previous posts from this WIP are here, where Parker has just walked into Billie's life again after being away for a decade.
*****
Here are my six, which are taken shortly after last week's excerpt. This is in Billie's Point of View.
It was
humiliating to think that with one touch she had been ready for
Parker to kiss her - expecting it even. He hadn’t and Billie
was relieved... really. Nothing good would have come from that. God willing, he hadn't noticed how she'd held her breath when his fingers skimmed her cheek
and brushed that bit of fluff from her hair.
She just hadn’t been prepared for him to touch her. Next time things would be different.

I love these "tension" kind of scenes. Way more than the full-on sex scene. Leaves a lot to the imagination...
well done!
I have a feeling her resolve might waver next time. Great six! :)
Last line made me smile. Great six!
I really want to see all of this from Parker's point of view, particularly after this six!
I love the image of his fingers skimming her cheek and him brushing the bit of fluff from her hair. Beautifully done. Oh, and congrats on all the house stuff. Moving is such an exciting time!
I have a feeling the next time he touches her, the tension might be too much! Great six!
Yes, love that last line. So much sexy tension here - great six!
I hope it's even more, the next time he touches her. Great six!
She *thinks* she'll be ready for the next time he touches her anyway. Interesting, enjoyed the excerpt as always! Good luck with all the stuff going on IRL!
eh? didn't realise you a fellow Canuk - yes happy canada day!
she'll be ready will she? we'll see...
Happy Canada Day, Lorraine and congrats on surviving your week.
I'm very glad she's looking ahead and thinking about next time. Hope she is able to pull it off :) Happy 6
Love that they've fallen into battle mode from the start. Lots of friction between these two. Delicious! (And congrats on moving through real estate hell so quickly. I'm impressed.)
Sure they will. Very different. Uh huh. Right. Nice six!
Happy Canada Day to you, Lorraine!
You are one busy lady, Lorraine! Don't forget to make time to pack... ;) And Happy Canada Day!
Today's six? Wow! I love her deep POV and her "running train of thought." Well written (as always!)
Wow, you've been one a roll with the moving thing, which is always a busy time. It sounds like things are going very well on that front. Also with your writing. What a great six this week. Something tells me that keeping her hands off of him is going to be something that's much easier said than done. Great six, and good luck with your wild and crazy life.
Nice, nice! How she fools herself. NEXT time will be worse, I suspect.
You certainly were busy this week! We sold our house last fall, moved across the country, and now we're building a house. I have many weeks like yours. I feel your busyness!
"Next time things would be different?" Ha!
Congrats on the house situation.
Congratulations on the house :)
This is so deep her POV, very nice 6!
Aw, thanks, Jess! :)
She's almost admitting defeat already, isn't she? LOL
Aw - thanks, Suzanne! I'm never sure how much internal contemplation should happen. :)
Thanks, Heather! :)
Thanks, Karen! We saw his point of view last week. I'll have to check and see if his point of view surfaces this coming week. :)
Aw - thanks, Mae!
Exciting? Yes - I think it will be... soon. After the stress...LOL. :)
I think you might be right. LOL
:) Thanks, Kate!
LOL. Yes. Thanks, AS!
LOL. Thanks, Veronica!
LOL. I don't think things will turn out quite as she planned. :)
:) - yes, she doesn't seem to doubt there'll be a next time, does she?
I'm not quite through real estate hell... but hopefull I'll emerge soon. LOL.
Thanks for commenting - glad you enjoyed my six! :)
*grin* Thanks, Kate!
Aw - thanks, Silver! :)
Right, packing - must remember... ;)
Wow - so exciting to build a house! Congrats!
And, thanks - I think it may be worse too. ;)
:) Thanks, Sue Ann!
Thanks, Maryellen! :)
Love the "Next time things would be different." Look forward to finding out how they will be. Very nice 6!
I love the way you build tension into this, Lorraine. Looking forward to more of this!
Congrats on the new home, selling the old home, and keeping up with your demanding schedule. That dang day job. I always say that I could get so much mroe done in my life if it wasn't for that 40+ outside of the home. ;-) Have a great week!
