Writing Life: Filling the Well

Whose well is overflowing?

I've had a bit of an unexpected hiatus from writing over the summer.  In the past, I've taken periodic breaks to "fill the well."  This summer wasn't like that.  My well felt perfectly fine before the summer started.  In fact it was brimming and about to overflow all over the place.

So, it was with some disappointment that part way through the summer I realized I wasn't able to do everything I wanted or had planned.  Indeed, it surprised me and I was reluctant to admit it.  ;)  But, the reality was I had to cut back on something and writing took the biggest hit.

Over the last week, things have finally started to slow up in the rest of my life, and my little synapses started sparking to life.  I've had so many story ideas swirling in my head this week!  So, perhaps my well was topped up afterall.

I am particularly excited about two ideas, but, first, I need to wrap up a few stories I was in the midst of editing before my unplanned break.

In the meantime, I've also taken an last minute plunge into Harlequin's So You Think You Can Write contest.  You can check it out here: Secrets and Second Chances (Updated January 2013: I've renamed this WIP to A Cowboy's Second Chance.)  If you like it you can vote on it from October 2nd to 11th.  If you like someone else's entry better, vote for it!  I'll just be happy if you check it out.  (Many thanks!)

How was everyone else's last few months?  Are everyone's wells filled and ready for some great productivity and creativity over the winter?
