Awakening a Witch #9 - Six Sentence Sunday

I'm happy to report that I survived a trip to the shopping mall on Saturday.  It was touch and go for a bit, but, in the end, I managed to buy stamps for my Christmas cards.  That's it.  That's all I managed to get.  Sigh.  I'll have to face the shops again.  I really should have planned better and bought everything online.  (If you've already finished your shopping, I'm in awe!)

Six Sentence Sunday: Over the last few weeks, I've been highlighting some excerpts from my historical paranormal romance work-in-progress, Awakening A Witch. Click here to read earlier posts.

*****

Set Up: This excerpt follows soon after last week's. Alex rescued her from the storm, and now Alex and Mattie are alone in a little cottage.  Mattie is incredibly cold, and her gown is soaked. (FYI: Effy is a mother figure to Alex.)

My Six:
"What did you say?"  Her disbelief reverberated through the tiny room.
"Your dress is wet, so you need to take it off."
"Absolutely not." Mattie crossed her arms.
"Effy will hold me responsible if you become ill."

Thank you for stopping by on your busy Sunday to check out my six! I hope you enjoyed them. And, a special thanks to everyone who comments! I love hearing everyone's thoughts.

This reminds me of the time a feral cat bit me on the thigh through my jeans. My then-new-boyfriend-now-husband told me to take off my pants, to which I said "NICE TRY." LOL. That said, she totally needs to take off that dress. ;c)

I think he's got a chance with that ploy. Great six. Like you, I have christmas shopping to do this week. Luck to both of us.

Clever to use her 'mother' figure to get her out of her wet clothes - lol. Great six.
The shops were absolutely manic here this weekend - ugh. This part of Xmas I could do without.

LOL Yes, she needs that dress off for many reasons. Great six!

I managed to get most of my shopping done online. It was great! But I still have to do Christmas cards.

Excellent six! Something tells me that dress will be hitting the floor.

You're way ahead of me, I haven't even started my Christmas shopping. Glad you survived the mall :)

It seems like a reasonable request. I think she should comply!

It's a perfectly valid argument! LOL Lovely six -- wonder what we'll see next week. :)

I work in retail, so I stay away from the stores on my days off. LOL It's manic enough on the days I work there. :)

You should see the big grin on my face. This 6 was very easy to see and so much fun to read. Fabulous.
I do must of my shopping online and I try to stay out of the shops this time of year. I'm almost done, but not yet. Hope you have better luck next time. You've got to find something more than stamps, lol.

Nice try Alex! But yeah, she needs to take it off :)

I kind of get her point, here. And his. The rest of the scene should be VERY interesting! :D

Now that's an interesting argument why she needs to strip--Effy will hold him responsible. Not so sure I'd be persuaded either. LOL Great six!

Veronica Scott said...

He's not persuading me with the reference to Effy LOL! Maybe he *thinks* that's his motivation...should be fun to see what transpires next...great six!

Oh, we all know what you're really up to, Alex. ;) Awesome six!

Paula Martin said...

Yes, that dress is definitely going to come off!

Sandra Sookoo said...

lol and we don't want her to be ill ;-)

Taryn Kincaid said...

Yeah, not only does she need to take off the dress, but she may need a coupla shots of brandy, too. For medicinal purposes.

Take it off!! lol Awesome 6! :)

What a line. "Your dress is wet, take it off." What's next, "drink this highly alcohol-laden drink to keep from getting a chill?"

Sue Ann Bowling said...

Hasn't it occurred to him to offer her something to wear efore he orders her to take off her soaked dress?

Cara Bristol said...

I'm with Sue Ann! Why doesn't he offer her his shirt? LOL. Do you notice how we judge him like he's a real person? Enjoyed your six!

Vivien Dean said...

Uh huh, like that's his only reason... ;)

Kylie Scott said...

Goodness. Things are getting steamy here. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Glad you survived Saturday X-mas shopping. I guess she won't take off that gown, not after saying absolutely not the first time. Good six!

Very exciting six that sent me back to read the former posts. Very interesting story. I like.

J.M. Blackman said...

I love the moment that this is setting up. I'm sure he has all the best intentions, but I'm also sure Mattie is not having it. Haha.

Sandra Bunino said...

Interesting strategy. Wonder if it will work? LOL

I'm sure he's just trying to be helpful and practical, but I'm sure she thinks he's trying to get into her drawers. ;) Fun six, Lorraine.
