As promised, I'm finishing the Six Sentence Sunday blog hop with my work-in-progress Awakening a Witch. For earlier excerpts from this historical paranormal romance work-in-progress, click here.

Set Up: This excerpt follows shortly after my last post on this story. Alex rescued Mattie from a storm, and now they are alone in a little cottage. They've heard a strange noise outside, and Mattie realizes there is an extraordinary woman in the wood. Then, something starts to happen to Mattie that she can't explain. She thinks she is ill and having hallucinations.
My Six (we are still in Mattie's POV):
Her stone pendant seemingly grew hotter against her
skin, but she resisted the urge to drop it, tightening her fingers around the heat
instead. She would not lose her
necklace again. The fiery intensity
spread, stabbing her body with sharp, powerful sensations.
When she swayed into Alex, he embraced her and guided her to the stool by the fire. She let him. Thankfully, he didn’t seem affected by the illness yet.
