Alberta - Ram Falls Provincial Park

Last July, we were in the midst of selling our condo and buying a house.  It was a hectic, stressful process.  I checked my phone minute-by-minute to see if the deals were accepted, approved, etc.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, my honey decided we needed a break. We jumped in the car and he started driving.  He may have known where we were heading, but I didn't. I tamped down the control freak in me and just went along for the ride.  I even tried not to ask where we were going! We ended up at the beautiful Ram Falls Provincial Park, which is located the Upper Foothills area west of Red Deer.

Over the last few months I've been featuring posts on Alberta, the province where I set most of my stories. If you want to check out earlier posts, click here.
When was the last time you just got in your car and drove?  Did you end up anywhere interesting?

Beautiful scenery! I can't remember the last time my husband and I took a drive for the sheer pleasure of it.

We did, however, just return from a trip that required 6.5 hours of driving. Fortunately, except for 1 hour of the drive, all of it was by way of a gorgeous scenic highway.

And the trip I took? It was to visit a town (Point Pleasant, West Virginia) I intend to use as the setting for an upcoming novel. I've never actually gone on a research trip before, but that was the whole reason for our visit. Something I would definitely do again!
