A Review of 2013

Last year, I wrote a blog post reviewing my 2012, so I thought I'd do the same thing this year.

If 2012 was about learning and stepping out of my comfort zone, 2013 was the same thing--only on steroids. And, it's been fantastic!

Reading
I didn't read as many books this year--according to Goodreads, I've only finished 24 instead of the 94 I read in 2012!  My TBR pile is overflowing and I have so many stories that I'm itching to dive into, but between my day job commitments and my writing commitments my reading suffered.

Blogging
I experimented with my blog in 2013.  I tried out a couple of regular blog topics--such as Alberta and What to Read Thursday--both of which I plan to resurrect in 2014. I also did some guest blogging on other blogs: Sarah Kades, Donna Cummings and Mae Clair.  And, in December, I blogged every day from December 1st to December 26th!  That was the most I've ever blogged in one month, ever.

Critique Group
Life got a little complicated in 2013 so my critique group didn't meet as regularly this year.  But, we are currently discussing plans for 2014!  I managed to finish one novel with my critique group and I'm part way
through another.

Publishing
After much soul-searching, I plunged into publishing in 2013.  It was exhilarating, frightening and hugely satisfying!  I published two novels (Devin's Second Chance and Annie's Christmas Plan) in 2013, and now I am working out my plan for 2014!

Writing
I have so many stories running around my head right now that I wish I could just lock myself in my office for the next six months and see how far I get!  Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.  So, I am going to write what I can, and jot down the ideas I can't get to right away.  I'm starting with Chloe's Matchmaking Terrier, and novel, Rita's Birthday Wish, both are new stories for my Morning Lake series. My historical paranormal romance series, contemporary paranormal romance series, and historical fairy tale novella will have to wait a little longer. Depending on how things go, I also have outlines for more novels and novellas in the Morning Lake series, too.  Alas, if only I didn't have to sleep...

I can't wait to see what 2014 brings!

How was your 2013?

I found 2013 similar to yours - but I didn't complete a book and that depresses me. Like you - it's hard to read anymore - and as I'm not working - that doesn't help either. I find when you don't work - you're doing a lot of things for others and it's exceptionally hard to say 'no' to people you love. Marketing is time-consuming.
Happy New Years Lorraine. I hope you get everything you want accomplished.

Happy New Year's to you too, Mary!

True, it has become increasing *interesting* trying to balance everything - LOL - but, it is so much fun, so I feel that makes up for it.

Wishing you a great 2014!
