Strategic Self-Publishing and Girl Tries Life Blog

I do a lot of research. Always have and I don't think I'll be changing any time soon. Some people probably think it is a bit excessive, but... Oh, well. ;)

I recently shared some of my research on self-publishing with my local writing group, Alberta Romance Writers' Association. Victoria Smith, who authors the fabulous Girl Tries Life blog where she talks about writing and travel (great, right?), did a fabulous summary of my chat on Strategic Self-Publishing.

And explore Victoria's blog while you are there!
She talks about Outlander and Harry Potter and more!

I found this little flower
bud in my garden today!
Yay! Flowers! (I had to share!)

"It's spring!" I say as I crawl out from under my rock.

To look at my blog for the last four months, you might think I've dropped off the radar... and perhaps I have.

Things have been hectic at my day job, other writing endeavors, and with life in general. Even today, as I type this, my hubby is outside demolishing our deck so he can build a new, safer version. Although we don't tend to work very well together on projects (we each think we know better than the other person), I have a feeling I'll be enlisted as the deck-builder's assistant soon.

But, I am also excited to say that my historical paranormal is nearing completion! Yay! I can't wait to share it with you.

I also have been thinking a lot about Morning Lake recently. It may be time to see what everyone there is doing lately... Hmm...

I hope you are all enjoying this fabulous spring day and I plan to post something again before another four months comes and goes...

~~~
One last note: I'm excited for my flowers to start blooming! The leaves for my tulips have poked up through the ground and so have my crocuses, so I'll have reds and purples in my yard again soon! Yay!
In the meantime, I'll leave you with a picture from my garden last year:
Gratitude
I have a wonderful friend, whom I've known since, well, FOREVER.  A few years ago,
she returned to my daily life thanks to Facebook.  Recently, she started a private group on Facebook, which she has dubbed a "Gratitude Journal."  Everyone in the group can post what they are thankful or grateful for, whenever the impulse strikes them.  I have enjoyed being a part of this group--it is amazing to see my Facebook feed full of joy and gratitude everyday.
So, today, I decided to share my gratitude on my blog.
2013 has been an pivotal year for me.  I took the plunge into indie publishing this year.  It took me a long, long time to come to this decision, and now I am overjoyed to have taken the plunge!
Indie publishing is a fascinating process, and I love every single thing about it!
This is not to say that I've made much money, but my rewards have been so much more touching and personal.  (Not to say that money wouldn't be wonderful, too...) ;)
My debut book was
released in June 2013
and I've enjoyed every
moment!
The first time a complete stranger signed up for my newsletter, I was giddy. And, when there were three sales of my book within just a few hours of my book going up for sale, I was exhilarated! When people listened to me speak at the When Words Collide conference and then when people actually bought copies of my book and wanted me to sign them(!!!), I was once again overjoyed and humbled.  Then, there was the first favorable review of Devin's Second Chance... and then the next and the next.  I love that happy dances and high fives with anyone who is close have become part of my publishing experience!  People have emailed me privately to tell me how much they've enjoyed my book, and each time I am absolutely humbled.
I am tingly and awed by the whole process.  And, I LOVE it!  :)
To everyone who took a chance on this unknown romance writer, I thank you!!!  I wish each of you a wonderful giddy joy too!
